PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing a water-soluble polyuronate having good biodegradability by an environmentally-friendly method. SOLUTION: The method for producing polyuronate represented by structure (1) comprises a step of oxidizing powdered cellulose with a crystallinity of≤30%. The powdered cellulose with the low crystallinity is preferably obtained by treating a cellulose-containing raw material using a grinder. In the oxidation step, the powdered cellulose with the low crystallinity is preferably dispersed and oxidized in a water system in the presence of an N-oxyl compound. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
