PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shot material having high hardness, high toughness and high corrosion resistance, which has high hardness of≥1,000 HV and high toughness equal to that of a ceramic shot material, also has sufficient corrosion resistance, and is inexpensively producible. SOLUTION: Disclosed is an iron based high hardness shot material comprising, by mass, 5 to 8% B and≤10% Al, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities and produced by a gas atomizing process.
