PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst component for polymerizing olefins capable of manufacturing a propylene polymer showing high insolubility in xylene and a wide range of isotacticity. SOLUTION: The catalyst component comprises: a titanium compound having at least one Ti-halogen bond; and at least two electron-donating compounds supported by an Mg dihalide. In the Mg dihalide, at least one electron-donating compound is selected from ethers having two or more ether groups capable of forming a complex, with <60 mmol per 100 g of MgCl<SB>2</SB>, of magnesium chloride anhydride, and incapable of substitutively reacting with TiCl<SB>4</SB>or capable of substitutively reacting with the same at <50 mol%; and at least one electron-donating compound is selected from mono- or polycarboxylates.
