<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a segment-core type stator for inner-rotor type rotary electric machines, in which the increase in the number of divisions of the stator core is suppressed, and to provide a method for manufacturing the stator. <P>SOLUTION: An end side segment core which constitutes axial end cores 21, 22 is enlarged in the circumferential direction larger than a center side segment core which constitutes an axial center core 23. A drum stator coil 1 is formed by expanding and reducing the axial center of the cage stator coil 1, the end side segment core which constitutes the end cores 21, 22 is set at the axial center (diameter-reduced part) of the drum stator coil 1, and after that, the end side segment core is moved in the axial direction and set at the axial end of the stator core 2. The center side segment core for constituting the center core 23 is set at the axial center of the stator coil 1.
