摘要 <p>The gas generator (10) comprises an igniter (20), a compressed gas container (12), which contains a first filling gas and has an outflow opening (16) closed by a first bursting membrane (14), and an elongated external housing. The igniter generates a shock wave, which passes through the compressed gas container in a sectionwise manner, before it destroys the first bursting membrane. The compressed gas container is filled with a mixture of the first filling gas and a second gas substance with a higher molar mass than helium. The second gas substance consists of small particles. The gas generator (10) comprises an igniter (20), a compressed gas container (12), which contains a first filling gas and has an outflow opening (16) closed by a first bursting membrane (14), and an elongated external housing. The igniter generates a shock wave, which passes through the compressed gas container in a sectionwise manner, before it destroys the first bursting membrane. The compressed gas container is filled with a mixture of the first filling gas and a second gas substance with a higher molar mass than helium. The second gas substance consists of small particles and is aerogel powder. The portion of the second gas substance is 1-13 mol.% of the total filling quantity or reaches maximally the total mass of the first filling gas. The mass of the small particles is smaller the mass of the first filling gas. The igniter is arranged at a first axial end of the external housing and the outflow opening is arranged at a second end of the elongated external housing. The shock wave generated from the igniter passes vertical to the first bursting membrane. The pressure (P(DGB)) in the compressed gas container before the activation of the gas generator is 500 bar at 20[deg] C. The igniter is separated from the compressed gas container by a second bursting membrane, and lies outside of the compressed gas container and generates the shock wave by destroying the second bursting membrane. The speed of the shock wave is 750-1250 m/s. The time between the opening of the second and the first bursting membrane is 0.03-0.35 ms. Inverse failure pressure of the second bursting membrane is 0.75-1.25 P(DGB). The quantity of M(A)x T(G)/M(G)x T(A) is 0.1-2, where the M(G) is the molar mass of the first filling gas, M(A) is the molar mass of the gases generated from the igniter, T(G) is the temperature of the first filling gas and T(A) is the temperature of the gases generated from the igniter. The ratio of M(G) 1>>2>/d 2>is 0.05-0.25, where the M(G) is the molar mass of the first filling gas in g/mol and d is the smallest diameter of the outflow opening in the first bursting membrane in millimeters.</p>
