The rim has an annular metallic rim member (23) with annular braking surfaces (26a), and a reinforcing member with spoke attachment sections individually arranged in a circumferential direction to overlie spoke attachment openings (30). The sections have a set of discrete reinforcing parts attached to spoke attachment areas around the spoke attachment openings, and another set of discrete reinforcing parts attached to the spoke attachment areas to overlie the former set of reinforcing parts, where the latter set of reinforcing parts are larger than the former set of reinforcing parts. An independent claim is also included for a bicycle rim forming method.
