PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium primary battery excelling in heavy load discharge characteristics. SOLUTION: The lithium primary battery comprises an electrode unit and a non-aqueous electrolyte in an exterior casing. The electrode unit comprises a positive electrode having a positive electrode mix layer containing manganese dioxide on one or both surfaces of a collector, a negative electrode containing metal lithium or lithium alloy, and a separator. The exterior casing is a metal laminated film clad casing. The reaction area of the electrode unit is greater than that of the battery when viewed in plane and the collector of the positive electrode is made of stainless steel.
