<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microcomputer enabling the easier inspection of current consumption in the case of a shift to a low power consumption mode. <P>SOLUTION: Immediately before a shift to a sleep mode, a CPU 2 makes data in a register 4 retreat into a memory 5. On the occurrence of the shift to the sleep mode, a sleep/wake-up controller 6 resets and initializes the register 4.
