<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a running toy which is small and lightweight, can easily be handled by a player, is inexpensive, and can perform wheelie travelling. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The running toy 1 includes a main body 2, a front wheel 6 held through an elastic body to the main body 2 on the front side of the main body 2, a rear wheel 7 attached to the backside of the main body 2, and a rear wheel drive section 103a which actuates the rear wheel 7, wherein an elastic body can be compressed when compression operation by manual operation is applied in a direction in which the front wheel 6 and the main body 2 relatively approach. A securing mechanism 31 keeping the compression state of the elastic body when compression is applied by manual operation is further provided. The elastic body is compressed by performing the compression operation by the manual operation before starting travelling, and the compression state of the elastic body is kept by the securing mechanism 31. When the toy is in a traveling condition by the front wheel 6 and the rear wheel 7, the securing mechanism 31 is released by remote control from a transmitter; and when the elastic body is released from the compression state, the front wheel 6 is lifted from the travelling surface 60 by giving biasing force to the front wheel 6, and a shift to a travelling posture by the rear wheel 7 is performed.
