<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate phase matching of relief valves in a shock absorber. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the shock absorber 10, a piston 14 is formed with a first port 14b as a passage of an operating liquid when sliding in a cylinder 12. A first main valve 16 adjusts discharge of the operating liquid from the first port 14b and inflow of the operating fluid into the first port 14b. A protrusion 16a is formed in the first main valve 16. A recessed part 14d housing the protrusion 16a is formed in the piston 14.
