PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multidirectional detector capable of detecting the operation of an operation member with high reliability. SOLUTION: This multidirectional detector detects an operation position of an operation shaft 16 tiltably supported to a fixation member. On the operation shaft 16, a light guide member 20 guiding light from a light emitting diode 21 and formed with a plurality of irradiation parts 22 emitting the guided light is arranged. The fixation member is provided with a plurality of photodiodes 19 detecting the light emitted from the irradiation parts 22 of the light guide member 20. When the operation shaft 16 is slantingly operated, the relative positions between the irradiation part 22 of the light guide member 20 and the photodiodes 19 are changed. The operation position of the operation shaft 16 is detected by using the changes of the light reception amounts of the respective photodiodes 19 with the changes of the relative positions.
