The method involves providing topography of a driving route as topography data. The driving route and an actual speed and parameters of speed characteristics of a vehicle i.e. commercial vehicle, are predicted for a preset ahead-lying road section to be displayed based on the topography data for determining or displaying rolling operation parameters for a rolling operation. A rolling characteristics parameter required for the speed prediction is stored and called as an individual value or as a characteristic diagram depending on the speed and the vehicle mass in a computation unit. An independent claim is also included for a control and/or evaluation device for a commercial vehicle for inquiry and/or detection of topography data.
