<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a platen gap adjustment device which can carry out correct platen gap adjustment of many stages of at least three or more stages by a compact configuration without using an encoder while the adoption of a DC motor as a power source is enabled from a viewpoint of manufacturing costs restriction, and to provide a printing apparatus, and a motor controller wherein control of these is generalized. <P>SOLUTION: In the platen gap adjustment device, the printing apparatus and the motor controller, a drive torque of a motor as the power source of the driving operation is gradually increased every predetermined time, and is reduced at a time point when an edge of a target flag is detected among three or more flags set for directly or indirectly detecting three or more positions that can be taken by a driving object. After the driving operation is continued for only a predetermined time by the reduced drive torque, brake control is conducted, whereby the driving operation is terminated in a state in which a center part of the target flag having the edge detected is detected by a flag sensor. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
