BEND-INSENSITIVE SINGLE MODE OPTICAL FIBER

PURPOSE: A bend-insensitive single mode optical fiber is provided to reduce a bending loss by being stapled or coiled in a miniaturized optical box. CONSTITUTION: A refractive index profile is measured in a radius extended from the center of an optical fiber(10) toward an external optical cladding(14). An optical box receives at least one part among the optical fiber. A center core(11) has positive refractive index difference with radius and the optical cladding. A depressed trench(13) has negative refractive index difference with the optical cladding and radius. An intermediate cladding(12) has positive refractive index difference with the optical cladding smaller than the refractive index difference of a core. The optical fiber has a radius of about 5mm.
