摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell capable of restraining loss caused when switching the supply and blocking of fuel gas or liquid, restraining the occurrence of a time delay at the on-off operation of the fuel cell, preventing abnormal heat generation caused by the reaction of methanol and oxygen, which can be miniaturized. <P>SOLUTION: An MEA 1 formed by adhering catalyst layers on both surface of a polymer electrolyte membrane and having an anode gas diffusion layer 2 on one surface and a cathode gas diffusion layer 3 on the other surface is interposed between a separator 4 having a gas flow path 6 guiding hydrogen gas and a separator 5 having a gas flow path 7 guiding oxygen gas. A spacer 10 having a gas flow path 11 is arranged between the separator 4 and the anode gas diffusion layer 2, and a shutter (a plane-shaped blocking device) is arranged between the separator 4 and the spacer 10. Holes 9 are formed in the shutter 8, and the gas flow path 6 is communicated with the gas flow path 11 through the holes 9. By moving the shutter in the direction of an arrow mark, the holes are blocked between the separator 4 and the spacer 10 and the supply of hydrogen is blocked by the shutter 8. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
