摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL device increasing color purity of light to be emitted and a ratio of light to be emitted to light emitted. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The organic EL device 1 includes a transparent electrode 24, an optical path length adjustment layer 31 of a transparent electrode, an organic layer interposed between these electrodes and including a light emitting layer 28, a reflection layer 22 disposed on the opposite side with the transparent electrode 24 interposed viewed from the light emitting layer 28 and reflecting light from the light emitting layer 28 toward the optical path length adjustment layer 31 and a semi-transparent and half-reflecting layer 32 disposed on the opposite side with the optical path length adjustment layer 31 interposed viewed from the light emitting layer 28. An optical distance L' between the reflection layer 22 and the semi-transparent and half-reflecting layer 32 is set to intensify a desired wavelength of light emitted through the semi-transparent and half-reflecting layer 32. An optical distance L'<SB>0</SB>between a most intensely light emitting position on the light emitting layer 28 and the reflection layer 22 is set to intensify the desired wavelength of light emitted through the semi-transparent and half-reflecting layer 32.
