PURPOSE: A microwave oven and a control method thereof are provided to control the proper temperature of food contained in a cooking chamber by controlling the operation of a heater. CONSTITUTION: A microwave oven comprises a cavity(20), a heater and a controller(50). A cooking chamber(22) is equipped in the cavity. The heater provides the heat to the cavity. The controller controls the heater and maintains a preset temperature for cooking the food. The controller controls the heater and maintains the preset keeping warm temperature for keeping warm the food. The cooking temperature is within 100~300°C. The controller turns on/off the heater repetitively for fixed hours.
