PURPOSE: A data processing unit and a method for changing operating cycle are provided to change adaptively the operating cycle of the processing unit by predicting the load amount of the processor unit in advance. CONSTITUTION: An interrupt generator(200) generates the time interrupt corresponding to the variable cycle. An interrupt cycle determiner(10a) determines the occurrence cycle of the time interrupt. When the time interrupt is generated in the interrupt generator, a scheduler(10b) checks a task queue and determines the processing schedule of the waiting task.
