CONNECTOR BLOCK FOR SHOCK TUBES, AND METHOD OF SECURING A DETONATOR THEREIN

The present invention provides a connector block for retaining shock tubes i n signal transmission relationship with the percussion-actuation end of a detonator. The invention also provides a connector block / detonator assembly, wherein the detonator is secured in position within the connector block for optimal energy transfe r from the detonator to the shock tubes retained therein. A method is also provided for securing a detonator within a connector block of the present invention. In this way, axial movement of the detonator within the connector block is substantially prevented, and air gaps between the shock tube(s) and the percussion-actuation end of the detonator are virtually eliminated, thereby improving shock tube initiation efficiency .
