The disclosed invention relates to the branch of foundry engineering and can be used in production of the forms and rods with cellular polystyrene binder. Molding sand with such a binder has very low green strength (less than 0.10 kgf/cm), that requires use of auxiliary fixture in the form of dryers, and it is also the reason of increase of number of rejected articles and decrease of quality thereof. Addition to the sand in a small amount (1.0-1.5%) of liquid glass with subsequent blowing the articles by carbon dioxide СОprior to extraction thereof from the fixtures provides for considerable increase of their compressive green strength, decrease of number of rejected articles, increase of efficiency and abandon the use of dryers. |
