The invention relates to organic chemistry, in particular to synthesis of N-(4-difluoromethoxyphenyl)-N'-1,2,2-trimethylpropyl-N''-cyanoguanidine of general formula:.A process for the preparation of N-(4-difluoromethoxyphenyl)-N'-1,2,2-trimethylpropyl-N''-cyanoguanidine (Flokalin) involves alkylation of thiourea with methyl iodide, interaction of the prepared S-methylisothiuronium salt with cyanamide in organic solvent at microwave exposure. The interaction of S-methylisothiuronium salt with cyanamide is carried out in the presence of potassium hydroxide as base catalyst, at temperature of 105-110 °Сfor 4-6 min., and dimethyl sulfoxide is used as organic solvent.
