PURPOSE: A digital broadcasting transceiving system with improved receiving performance and a signal processing method thereof are provided to improve operation performance of an equalizer by inserting a proper amount of a sequence of base data in a proper pattern for synchronization and equalization of a receiver, thereby improving operation performance of the equalizer. CONSTITUTION: A digital broadcasting transmitter for transmitting data to a digital broadcasting receiver includes a base data inserting unit, a trellis encoding unit(140) and a modulating unit. The base data inserting unit inserts base data into a fixed position of data. The trellis encoding unit performs trellis encoding on data including base data with a byte of a fixed length by an 8 level symbol of a 2/3 ratio. The modulating unit performs VSB modulator on trellis-encoded data.
