The system has a cell stack (1) with cells (10), where each cell includes a cathode (2) and an anode (3) that are separated by a polymer membrane (5) e.g. NAFION(RTM: perfluorinated polymer membrane). Upstream and downstream collectors (12, 14) supply air from the cells. A water recovery system (6) transfers, by pervaporation, quantity of water vapor from the downstream collector to the upstream collector. An estimation unit (16) estimates humidity of the cells, and a downstream oxygen sensor (19) is located on the downstream collector between the stack and the recovery system. An independent claim is also included for a method for regulating a fuel cell. |
