The system has vibration and shock detection units (3) e.g. capacitive type accelerometer, for detecting vibration and shock produced on a fence. Transmission units (4, 5) transmit data issued from the detection units to a remote station. The detection units are carried by posts (1), on which panels (2) of the fence are fixed. The transmission units are connected to a data receiving unit. An autonomous supply unit supplies power to the detection units.
