The device has an inlet (2) and an outlet (3) both connected to a water pipe, where the inlet and the outlet are coupled by a pipe section (4) bearing a UV-light unit (5), where water is irradiated with UV light and purified using a composition containing hydrogen peroxide. Two sediment filters (7, 8) are placed before the pipe section, and two sediment filters (9, 10) are placed after the pipe section. An independent claim is also included for a method for cleaning, disinfection or purification of water.
