<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately remove an additive depositing on an exhaust passage or on an addition member facing an exhaust passage, for the purpose of adding the additive to an exhaust-gas cleaning member provided in the exhaust passage for cleaning the exhaust gas. <P>SOLUTION: The internal combustion engine includes an exhaust-gas cleaning member 40 provided to an exhaust passage for exhaust-gas purification, and an addition device 44 for adding the additive to the exhaust-gas cleaning member 40. The internal combustion engine is made up so that the gas in an accumulator 88 is supplied to the addition member 42 after elapse of a specified time from the finish of addition of the additive from an addition member 42 of the addition device 44 provided in the exhaust passage, or facing on the exhaust passage. The specified time is so set that the supply of the gas in the accumulator 88 to the addition member 42 restrains formation of deposits induced by deposited additives on the addition member 42. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
