<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an enzyme immunoassay device for performing accurate detection with high detection sensitivity and a detection method using the same device, by dissolving a dried labeled antibody or labeled antigen in a test specimen liquid, causing it to reach a detection section by a capillary phenomenon, and subsequently causing a substrate liquid to migrate so that it later reaches the detection section, with the bottom surface of a substrate pad section present at a position lower than the detection section, as to an enzyme immunoassay using a membrane strip. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This enzyme immunoassay device using a membrane strip for detecting a substance to be detected in a specimen sample liquid includes: an absorption pad section provided on one end of a membrane strip section; a substrate pad section, provided on the other end of the membrane strip section, which contains an enzyme substrate in a dried state; a labelling section containing a target antibody or antigen reacting with the substance to be detected in a dried state; and a detection section wherein the antibody or antigen reacting with the substance to be detected is solidified on the membrane strip section between the labelling section and the absorption pad section, with the bottom surface of the substrate pad section present at a position lower than the detection section.
