PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display element, such as, a liquid crystal display element which can be manufactured at low cost. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display element 100 comprises a first substrate 11 and a second substrate 11 opposed to each other; a liquid crystal layer 13, disposed between the first substrate 11 and the second substrate 11; and an organic layer 12, provided at least either between the liquid crystal layer 13 and the first substrate 11 or between the liquid crystal layer 13 and the second substrate 11.
