PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for synthesizing an epoxy alcohol from a hydroxy group-containing olefin compound as a raw material that gives the epoxy alcohol safely, inexpensively in a high yield. SOLUTION: The production method of the epoxy alcohol comprises causing the hydroxy group-containing olefin compound represented by general formula (1): R-OH (wherein R is a 3-10C aliphatic hydrocarbon group containing one carbon-carbon double bond) and hydrogen peroxide to react in the presence of a base and a nitrile compound to form the epoxy alcohol.
