The equipment (1) has a set of insertion holders (11, 12) defining a set of insertion planes (EE1-EE3), where the planes are vertically arranged at a distance from each other. An insert (14) is inserted into the insertion planes, and a set of light sources (L1-L3) lights up the insertion planes respectively. Electric circuits (20-29) associated with the insertion plane and with the insert are locked by pushing the insert into one of the planes, where an electrically conductive region of the insert and the light sources are a part the electric circuit. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling illumination of insertion planes in a cooking area of a cooking equipment.
