<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of preparing a benzoxazole compound that can simplify its reaction process, exhibits a low environmental load, excels in atom economy, and can efficiently prepare a benzoxazole compound at a high yield. <P>SOLUTION: The method of preparing a benzoxazole compound comprises carrying out a ring closure reaction of the reaction substrate of a benzoxazole compound by heating the same up to a temperature of 120 to 170°C in the presence of a copper catalyst in an ambience containing a solvent of a relative dielectric constant of 1 to 15 and oxygen. In this case, copper trifluoromethanesulfonate is preferable as the copper catalyst. The amount of the copper catalyst to be used is preferably 20 to 100 mol% relative to the reaction substrate. Xylene, chlorobenzene, or dichlorobenzene is preferable as the solvent. Further, the reaction time of the ring closure reaction is preferably 15 to 48 hours. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
