<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve response of a valve timing adjusting device by enabling changeover of supply and discharge of oil to and from advancing side and retarding side hydraulic chambers. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This valve timing adjusting device is provided with: a housing 6 as a drive force transmission member transmitting drive force from a crankshaft; a case 7 including a plurality of shoes 7a-7d fixed on the housing 6, projecting inward, and forming a plurality of the hydraulic chambers 11a-11d, 12a-12d; a rotor 8 including a plurality of vanes 8a-8d fixed at an end part of a camshaft 2 and dividing the hydraulic chambers into the advancing side and the retarding side; and a change over mechanism 41 including a plurality of oil passages 33a-33d, 34a-34d supplying/discharging oil to/from the hydraulic chambers 11a-11d, 12a-12d in the advancing side and the retarding side and capable of changing over supply and stop of oil to the hydraulic chambers 11a-11d, 12a-12d in the advancing side or the retarding side.
