<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic transfer master carrier having a magnetic layer in which magnetization occurs in a direction of applied magnetic field upon application of the magnetic field and the residual magnetization is suppressed upon cancellation of the magnetic field. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the magnetic transfer master carrier 20 includes a base material 200 having convex portions 201 on its surface, provided corresponding to a pattern of information to be recorded on a perpendicular magnetic recording medium 10, and a magnetic layer 40 deposited at least on top surfaces of the convex portions 201, and in the magnetic transfer master carrier 20 when a magnetic field is applied to the magnetic transfer master carrier, the magnetic layer 40 absorbs a magnetic flux so as to form a pattern of the magnetic field, the magnetic layer 40 includes at least two layers of perpendicular magnetic anisotropic layers 41 (41a, 41b), and an antiferromagnetic coupling induction layer 43 which is provided so as to be sandwiched in among all the perpendicular magnetic anisotropic layers 41, and induce antiferromagnetic coupling between two neighboring layers of the perpendicular magnetic anisotropic layers 41.
