<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transflective liquid crystal display unit which has a high aperture ratio and a high quality by preventing display defects caused by leakage of light from an oblique viewing angle. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display unit includes a liquid crystal cell constituted by interposing a liquid crystal layer between first and second substrates. The liquid crystal cell has a reflective area and a transmissive area in each pixel.
