<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine valve gear with small load resistance and small energy loss. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The engine valve gear includes a motor 30 which has a spring 20e arranged to bias a valve in a closing direction and with a spring constant set smaller than that of a spring for suppressing jump and bounce phenomena in a high engine speed range, and a slider arranged to bias the valve in a compression direction by moving in an axial direction or a screw-driven axis for moving in an axial direction, a mechanism for displacing the spring by movement of the slider or the axis when energizing a coil 30b of the motor, and a control means for controlling energizing of the motor to control displacement of one terminal of the spring in accordance with an engine speed.
