<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for preventing or reducing an uneven display and a lighting-up failure caused by uneven adhesion of powder on a protective layer of a plasma display panel. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the plasma display panel, the protective layer 18 includes a MgO film 18a and a plurality of MgO powders 18b stuck on the MgO film 18a, and includes a sealing section (a sealing member 42a) in the vicinity of a panel outside rather than a display area for its sealing. A plurality of MgO powders 18b are stuck on the surface of the MgO film at a range (R6) from at least a range (R0) of the display area to a range (R2) of the sealing section (a sealing member 42a).
