The method involves driving an impression cylinder (3) and a blanket cylinder (2) i.e. transfer cylinder, using a main drive (6). A form cylinder (1) i.e. plate cylinder, is driven by a direct drive (7). A dampening device (5) is driven by another direct drive (8) such that a wet application roller of an inking system (4) has a circumferential speed different from delta and/or difference values of circumferential speed of the form cylinder. The circumferential speed of the application roller is adjusted without exceeding maximal permissible torque of the application roller.
