<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light weight speed reducer for driving wheels capable of being manufactured compactly and inexpensively without deteriorating the performance of an in-wheel motor itself. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The light weight speed reducer for driving the wheels includes a sun gear 5 for rotating with rotation of an input shaft 8, a hollow planetary gear 6 externally contacting with the sun gear 5, a carrier arranging the hollow planetary gear 6 in the middle thereof and having an input side carrier 12a and an outside carrier 12b for integrally rotating with revolution of the planetary gear 6 which is arranged between the input side carrier 12a and the outside carrier 12b, a rigid carrier pin 11, inserted in the hollow part 9 of the planetary gear 6, for supporting the input side carrier 12a and the outside carrier 12b, and a needle bearing 10 arranged between the planetary gear 6 and the rigid carrier pin 11.
