<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily restore, to the ordinary actuation state, a photographing device shifted to a power-saving standby state from an ordinary actuation state and also to suppress wasteful power consumption caused by unintended restoration to the ordinary actuation state. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A digital camera 100 capable of underwater photography has a water detection sensor 116 and a pressure sensor 112, and is constituted to determine whether or not the camera 100 is underwater. The camera 100 has a tap operation permission mode, wherein in the mode, action of the camera 100 is changed based on a result obtained by detecting excitation operation by a user by a vibration detection part 400. The camera is constituted to be restored to the ordinary actuation state from the standby state by detecting the excitation operation. At such a time, when the camera 100 is not underwater, it is not restored to the ordinary actuation state even if the excitation operation is detected; and when it is underwater, the camera is restored to the ordinary actuation state by detecting the excitation operation.
