<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for cleaning a filtering medium with such advantages that the filtering medium can be efficiently cleaned, i.e., in a short time and with low consumption of water required for cleaning. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This filtering device comprises: (1) a tank 1, (2) a first water outlet 2 installed above the tank 1, (3) a second water outlet 3 installed below the tank 1, (4) a filtering medium 4 placed inside the tank 1, (5) a first cleaning water supply part 5 which supplies cleaning water inwardly from the internal side wall side of the tank 1, in a medium position where the filtering medium 4 placed inside the tank 1 is located, (6) a second cleaning water supply part 6 which supplies cleaning water inwardly from the internal side wall side of the tank 1, in the internal upper position of the tank 1, and (7) a third cleaning water supply part 7 which supplies cleaning water to the internal upper side from the internal lower side of the tank 1.
