At the reception side, it is possible to easily perform a display process synchronized with the content data. A camcoder (200) transmits reproduction content data to a television (300) via a TMDS line of an HDMI cable (701).  The camcoder (200) transmits process information used for performing a display process synchronized with the reproduction content data to the television (300), for example, prior to transmission of the reproduction content data, via a bidirectional communication path in the cable (701).  Index information is added to each process unit of the process information.  Index information corresponding to the index information added to the process information is added to the reproduction content data in accordance with the process timing by the process information in each process unit.  The television (300) superposes the imaging location, the date and time, and the like on the image according to the process information based on the index at the addition timing of the index information in the reception content data.
