ESCALATOR LIGHTING SYSTEM

<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an escalator lighting system high in reminder function which can guide a passenger to an appropriate boarding position on a stepping surface. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The escalator lighting system comprises: a stepped position detector 17; a light irradiation device 19; and a light irradiation control device 21 making the light irradiation device emit light based on positional information of a step 12. The light irradiation device 19 includes: a light irradiation control part 22 making the light irradiation device 19 emit guidance light to a standing position 15 to form foot print marks thereon, when it is detected that a whole surface of the stepping surface 14 of each step 12 is sent from a landing plate 13; a light irradiation continuance control part 23 for making the light irradiation device 19 continue emitting the guidance light to the standing position 15 on each step 12 until it is detected that each step 12 reaches a predetermined position; and a light irradiation stop control part 24 stopping irradiation of the guidance light when it is detected that each step 12 reaches the predetermined position.
