PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gasification method and a gasification apparatus, for gasifying a biomass in an entrained type gasification furnace to produce a gas used as a fuel or a chemical raw material, which each does not cause a piping trouble due to tar, uses a part of the produced gas as a carrying gas, and thereby totally increases the calorific power of the produced gas in the gasification apparatus. SOLUTION: This gasification apparatus 100 for gasifying the biomass supplied to the entrained type gasification furnace 130 by a gas flow carrying method to produce a gas is characterized in that the produced gas used as the carrying gas is supplied to a carrying gas supply device 120 in a state that a temperature higher than the temperature of the cooled produced gas is maintained and the carrying gas supply device 120 uses a part or all of the produced gas as the carrying gas.
