An apparatus for purifying exhaust gas includes a filter casing having a discharge unit at one end thereof and at least two independent filter holding sections, a filter mounted in the filter casing and collecting particulate matter from the discharged exhaust gas, at least one heater removing the particulate matter collected by the filter, a heater mounting unit fixing the heater adjacent to the filter, regulators connected with the respective filter holding sections of the filter casing and controlling an amount of the exhaust gas flowing into the respective filter holding sections, a distributor connected to the regulators and supplying the exhaust gas, the amount of which is controlled, to the filter casing, and an inflow unit connected to the distributor and causing the exhaust gas to flow thereinto.
