PURPOSE: A radio communication apparatus is provided to suppress circuit damage and transmission loss by minimizing a transmission signal to a receiver. CONSTITUTION: In a radio communication apparatus, a base band unit(10) sends a transmission signal to a transmission unit(12). The transmission unit transmits the transmission signal from an antenna(14), and a receiver(16) receives a reception signal from the antenna. The base band unit modulates the reception signal, and a transmission signal detection unit(18) is installed at a transmission signal path near the antenna. The transmission signal detection unit is comprised by a detector circuit. A controller(20) controls the switching of transmission / reception. The controller outputs a transmission control signal to a transmission switch(22). The controller outputs the receiving control signal to a receiver switch(24). The controller switches a transmission / receiving operation by switching an output timing of a control signal.
