<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic document feeder and a document reader that improve sealing properties of a read unit. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The automatic document feeder (ADF) includes a curved document conveying path, and a second scanner unit 60 of a reduction optical system disposed inside the document conveying path. The second scanner unit 60 includes a scanner frame 12 and a relay substrate 70. The scanner frame 12 is configured to surround the outer periphery of the second scanner unit 60. The relay substrate 70 is suitable for the scanner frame 12.
