Disclosed are a liquid-absorbing resin which has high liquid-absorbing power and a desired shape due to crosslinking of a specified resin composition, and a liquid-absorbing resin film having high liquid-absorbing power and favourable mechanical properties. Disclosed are a resin composition (C) containing a polymer (A) and having a specified solid component and specified gelation rate, a method for producing a liquid-absorbing resin by crosslinking this resin composition, and a liquid-absorbing resin film which includes a resin obtained by crosslinking (C) and has a specified tensile strength at break, tensile elongation at break, and absorption of ion-exchanged water. Polymer (A): A polymer containing structural units (a) having 20-100 wt% of a functional group such as a carboxyl group, or such a functional group in which a proton is substituted by an onium cation or the like, with the onium cation substitution percentage in (A) being 30-100 mol%.
