<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a map display device enabling a user to comprehend, even when there are a lot of features in an area, what features are present in the area. <P>SOLUTION: The map display device 100 is constituted mainly of: a database 140 serving as an information storage section; a map display section 130 displaying a map and display icons; an overlap decision section 110 deciding whether an icon overlaps another icon; and an icon creating section 120 creating display icons. When a plurality of leaf node icons decided by the overlap decision section 110 to be overlapping have a plurality of attributes, the icon creating section 120 creates, as a display icon, an inner node icon which shows the attribute lower than the upper attribute that includes all of the plurality of attributes and higher than the attribute that the plurality of leaf icons have.
