PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for producing silicon carbide powder capable of producing a silicon carbide powder having a lower boron content than before. SOLUTION: The method for producing silicon carbide powder comprises: a first step of feeding a raw material of silicon carbide powder into a crucible having a low boron content; and a second step of producing the silicon carbide powder by heating the crucible having a low boron content into which the raw material of silicon carbide powder has been fed.
