PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition for a plastic coating comprising, as a resin component for the coating, an aqueous emulsion that is highly glossy and exhibits not only excellent adhesion and hot-water-resistant adhesion to any plastic molded article composed of an ABS resin material, an ABS/PC resin material or a PS resin material but also high-degree solvent resistance, and a plastic coating using the same. SOLUTION: The resin composition for a plastic coating comprises as a resin component thereof an aqueous emulsion having a glass transition temperature of 50°C or higher that is obtained by emulsion polymerizing ethylenically unsaturated monomers comprising as essential ingredients an aromatic group-containing vinyl monomer and isobornyl (meth)acrylate in the presence of a surfactant.
